Kanze Dena, the spokesperson in the office of the former President Uhuru Kenyatta has exposed the Kenya Kwanza government over alleged intimidation.
Speaking during a press briefing on Monday June 10, 2024, Kanze Dena alleged that staff at Uhuru’s office were being frustrated by the government.
“There is unceremonial withdrawal and intimidation of staff via phone calls at midnight,” she alleged.
She added that the government has also failed to renew contracts of two employees at Uhuru’s office. The two employees are Kanze Dena Mararo and administrator John Kariuki.
She also denied allegations of renovation of Uhuru’s office and maintenance of vehicles under his office.
In addition, she noted that the late Presidents Daniel Moi and Mwai Kibaki were allocated double the number of vehicles that have been allocated to Uhuru Kenyatta.
For instance, she noted that Uhuru was allocated 2 Toyota Land Cruisers, 1 Mercedes Benz and 1 Range Rover for personal use; adding that these vehicles were not new, as they were part of his motorcade when he left Kasarani Stadium after the 2022 inauguration ceremony.
At the same time, she noted that fuel cards for fueling Uhuru’s official vehicles were blocked by the current Kenya Kwanza regime from March 2023 to date.
However, she said the former President is receiving his personal monthly allowances that are paid by the pension fund domiciled at the Treasury.
