Kareh B: The school has not called me yet about my son’s death

Mugithi artist Kareh B (real name Mary Gioche) is now demanding answers after the passing of her 17-year-old son in a road accident on Monday evening.

Her late son, Joseph Mwadulo, was among Chavakali Boys High School students involved in an accident that evening.

Mwadulo was the only one who perished while three others were severely injured. The students were travelling to Nairobi for the April school holiday.

Kareh B revealed that she questioned the school’s decision to release students at 11pm, but it appears that a majority of parents were in consensus hence the journey kicked off as planned.

“I have been a parent at Chavakali Boys for the past 4years and no one has called to inform me on my son’s death or better still condole with me. when are you planning to communicate?” she questioned.

The Chavakali Boys High School students travelled aboard an Easy Coach bus, which plies the Nairobi-Busia route.

The cause of the accident is yet to be established. Kareh B faulted Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen however for luxity of enhancing traffic rules.

“Education Minister; who permitted minors to travel at night? Transport and Roads Minister; was the whole traffic Marshall asleep that no one noticed minors travelling at night?” the musician posed.

She questioned the silence by government officials over recent accidents affecting students.

“Are you going to continue being silent and lose more children on the roads, what measures are you putting in place to curb the accidents doing the rounds, especially the young generation.

“I need answers, go well my son,” Kareh B added.

Easy Coach shared an update saying they will cooperate with the authorities to establish the cause of the accident.

A manhunt was immediately launched for the bus driver who is said to have fled the scene after the bus overturned at Coptic Roundabout in Kisumu.

Easy Coach, the bus company, expressed deep regret over the incident, confirming that the bus was carrying students from Chavakali High School.

They reported that 22 students were discharged from hospitals, while three remained admitted for further treatment.

“We are deeply saddened to confirm a fatal accident involving our Mbale-Nairobi bus that occurred in Mamboleo- Kisumu on April 1st, 2024 around 10pm…

“We extend our heartfelt condolences to their family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time,” the bus company said in a statement.
