Karen Nyamu disappointed by LSK President Faith Odhiambo’s rejection of William Ruto’s appointment

Nominated Senator Karen Nyamu has voiced her disappointment with Law Society of Kenya (LSK) president Faith Odhiambo.

For rejecting President William Ruto’s appointment.

President Ruto had included Odhiambo in a task force to audit the national debt.

Unfortunately, the LSK deemed the appointment unconstitutional.

Nyamu argued that Odhiambo’s refusal prevents an opportunity to represent Kenyans’ interests in the debt audit.

On social media, Nyamu expressed confusion over the LSK president’s decision to decline the appointment.

She stated,

“I’m not sure why LSK president Faith Odhiambo turned down the President’s appointment to the task force for a forensic audit of public debt.

She missed a chance to ensure Kenyans’ interests were represented by the premier bar association.

Whose goal is to protect and assist the public in legal matters.”

Nyamu continued,

“Public debt is a significant challenge for our country, and I’m disappointed she didn’t want to be part of the solution.”

President Ruto announced the task force on Friday, July 5.

Nancy Onyango would lead the team as its chairperson, with assistance from Luis Franceschi.

Besides Odhiambo, the members included Philip Kaikai, Institute of Engineers of Kenya president Shammah Kiteme, and Vincent Kimosop. Abraham Rugo and Aaron Thegeya were appointed joint secretaries of the task force.

The team was tasked with assessing the current debt stock.

Recommending repayment terms and negotiation strategies, and determining the debt-financed projects’ value and return on investment.
