Kenyan actress Kate Actress (real name Catherine Kamau) is elated after receiving an invite to a State dinner at the White House in United States (U.S).
She shared the exciting news in a social media post appreciating U.S ambassador to Kenya Meg Whitman who extended the invite to her.
“Good morning. This village girl will be attending the STATE DINNER at the White House & a Luncheon at the Tyler Perry studios in Atlanta by invitation from Her Excellency Meg Whitman,” the mother of two wrote.
Kate Actress reaffirmed that her inclusion was a positive gain for Kenya’s creative industry.
She will get an opportunity to meet U.S President Joe Biden and join President William Ruto who will be landing in the U.S at 5pm Kenyan time to start his three-day State visit.
Eddie Butita is yet another creative who will be in the western nation as he accompanied the first in command on his visit.
Taking to social media, Butita echoed Kate Actress’ sentiments, acknowledging this was a big step for Kenyan creatives to be heard on the global platform.
“Thank you His Excellency President William Samoei Ruto for chosing me to accompany you to the United States Of America State Visit hosted by the USA President His excellency President Joe Biden.
“The fact that I’m part of the head of states delegation is a clear sign and we are happy that the creative industry is part of the conversations we are going to have during this trip,” he wrote.
On his first day, the President’s visit will commence in Atlanta, Georgia. He will visit the Carter Presidential Library and Museum to emphasize Kenya’s shared commitment to governance, democratic values, and anti-corruption efforts.
Ruto will then visit Ebenezer Baptist Church, to pay homage to the civil rights struggle and emphasize how religion can be a force for good.
Also on day one of Ruto’s visit, he will go to the Center Disease Control Headquarters while focusing on Kenya-US health partnerships.
Still on Monday, President Ruto and First Lady will be hosted by Kenyans living in Atlanta, with a focus on the diaspora as a key player in national transformation.
