Award-winning actress Catherine Kamau, popularly known as Kate Actress, has shared an encouraging message after confirming breakup with husband Phillip Karanja.

According to her Instagram stories today (Wednesday), Kate Actress woke up to hit the gym amid the chaos all over the internet over their divorce shocker.

“I hope you know how brave, important, sparkling and wonderful you always are, even if you don’t feel like it,” she wrote.

The two, who have one child together, made the public announcement on Tuesday via individual social media pages.

“We came to a conclusion to end our marriage a long while ago and are separated. We sincerely request everyone to honour our wishes for privacy for us and our children,” read their joint statement.

Kate Actress and Phil remain friends

Kate Actress confirmed longtime rumours that they had gone their separate ways six years into marriage.

“It was never a secret, we just kept it private. To all our dear fans, asanteni sana for the support over the years.”

Her estranged husband Phil Director echoed the sentiments on his Instagram page, reiterating that this was a matter between two individuals.

“Kate Actress and I remain friends, co-parents and business partners,” he added.

Celebrities who separated in 2023

This becomes the latest celebrity couple to part ways. In July this year, actress Jackie Matubia confirmed their split with ex-fiance Blessing Lungaho.

She made the announcement on her Instagram account. “Proud single mother of two” Matubia wrote alongside a photo of herself.

Unlike Kate and Phil however, Jackie Matubia’s separation appeared a bitter one if her subsequent posts are anything to go by.

The two, who have one child together, have reportedly not had a smooth co-parenting experience.

“…you give a chance to fathers who are interested, like the first thing is if the father is interested in the child first,” Jackie Matubia said.

Young influencer Georgina Njenga and renown actress Tyler Mbaya also went their separate ways in May this year.
