Kate Middleton: Princess of Wales announces she has cancer

After many days of speculations and conspiracy theories, Kate Middleton — the Princess of Wales — has announced that she has been diagnosed with cancer.

In a video statement on Friday, March 22, Kate said that she is undergoing chemotherapy.

At first, it was thought that her condition was noncancerous.

“The surgery was successful. However, tests after the operation found cancer had been present. My medical team therefore advised that I should undergo a course of preventive chemotherapy and I am now in the early stages of that treatment,” her statement said.

Kate said the the cancer news came as a huge shock to her family, and “William and I have been doing everything we can to process and manage this privately for the sake of our young family.”

She added: “I am well and getting stronger everyday by focusing on the things that will help me heal; in my mind, body and spirits.”

She did not announced what type of cancer she had, or what stage she has been diagnosed at.

The princess had not been seen in public since Christmas Day 2023.

The Princess of Wales, born Catherine Elizabeth Middleton, married Prince William, The Prince of Wales, at Westminster Abbey on 29 April 2011. Their Royal Highnesses have three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

King Charles III, her father-in-law, announced in early February he had been diagnosed with an undisclosed form of cancer and had begun treatment.
