KCSE results puzzle as all candidates in a Migori school score grade D

National NewsNews

Students from Oruba Boys in Suna West Sub-County in Migori, held demonstrations to dispute their 2023 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results, terming them ingenuine.

The students who took their displeasure to the Migori County Director of Education Office, chanting slogans while carrying placards, said that they were shocked with the results projections, where only two students scored a mean grade of C minus, with the rest scoring Ds and Es.

According to Onyango Obiero Omondi, a student of Oruba school, pleaded with the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC), to at least give them hope by showing them the actual results slips.

“We are shocked to see our peers celebrating their KCSE successes yield after four years, while we are matching on the streets to seek our grievances”, noted Obiero.

According to the students, they have never scored such results during their four-year study at the school.

The school had 75 students that sat for 2023 KCSE whereby two students managed to score a mean grade of C Minus, 13 D plus, 23 D plans, 31 D Minus, and six Es.

Their attempts to reach the School Principal, Deputy Principal, and even the Exam Master were thwarted, as they were unavailable physically and over the phone.

Their hopes to talk to the County Director of Education were also dashed, as the County Education Officials were unavailable.

KNEC allows a 30-day widow after the date of release of the results/certificates for candidates or institutions to raise any query arising from the released examination.

According to the Kenya National Examination Council KCSE 2023 results 601, 788 students scored below C Minus.`
