KDF hands over newly built modern hospital to Police

The Kenya Defence Forces on May 17, 2024, handed over the newly-built National Police Service Hospital-Mbagathi to the National Police Service in a ceremony presided over by cabinet secretary (CS) for Defense Aden Duale and CS for Interior and National Administration, Prof. Kithure Kindiki.

Speaking during the event, Duale lauded the facility as one of its kind since Kenya’s independence and a symbol of collective effort between KDF and NPS.

At the same time, CS. Kindiki assured that the hospital will offer quality healthcare services to NPS Officers.

Speaking on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, DIG Kenya Police Service, Mr. Douglas Kanja appreciated the continued collaboration between KDF and NPS, further  noting that the 150-bed Level Four hospital is part of the ongoing NPS modernization program. 

NPS now has two hospitals, including the Border Police Hospital in Kanyonyoo, Kitui.

Also present was PS for Defence, Patrick Mariru, Vice chief of defence forces Lt. Gen. John Omenda, NPS Secretary, Administration/Accounting Officer, Mrs. Bernice Lemedeket, and Commandant GSU,  Mr. Eliud Lagat, SAIG among other senior military and Police Officers.
