Renowned U.S rapper Kendrick Lamar dominated the 67th Grammy Awards at a gala in Los Angeles on February 2, 2025.
His hit song “Not Like Us” earned him five major awards, including Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best Rap Performance, Best Rap Song, and Best Music Video. The song is known for its direct criticism of fellow rapper Drake.
With these wins, Lamar’s Grammy total now stands at 20, making him one of the most awarded rappers in history.
During his Song of the Year acceptance speech, he praised legendary singer Diana Ross, who presented the award, and acknowledged the influence of West Coast rap legends on his career.
Released in May 2024, “Not Like Us” debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and remained at the top for a record-breaking run.
The track’s success further solidifies Lamar’s dominance in hip-hop. “We’re gonna dedicate this one to the city,” Lamar said before shouting out Los Angeles area neighborhoods.
The 2025 Grammy Awards honored a diverse group of artists, with Lamar and Beyoncé emerging as the night’s biggest winners.
Hosted by Trevor Noah, the 2025 Grammy Awards also featured notable wins by other artists. Beyoncé, for instance, made history by winning Best Country Album for Cowboy Carter, becoming the first Black woman to do so in over 50 years. Sabrina Carpenter was also honored with the Best Pop Vocal Album award.
