The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced a five-day traffic disruption along a section of Mombasa Road, starting Wednesday, August 7, 2024.
The affected area will be near the Shell petrol station next to the Hilton Garden Inn, where construction of a mid-span footbridge foundation will take place.
In a public notice issued on July 31, 2024 KeNHA stated that the traffic disruption will occur along the Mombasa-bound lanes.
“This is to allow for construction of mid-span footbridge foundation at the median between the service lane and the adjacent Mombasa bound lane,” the authority explained.
The temporary inconvenience is expected to last until Sunday, August 11, 2024. KeNHA has urged motorists to exercise caution and follow the instructions of traffic marshals during this period.
Motorists are advised to plan their journeys accordingly and allow for extra time to reach their destinations.
Alternative routes may be considered to avoid the affected area, although KeNHA has assured that measures will be in place to minimize disruption.
The construction of the mid-span footbridge is part of KeNHA’s ongoing efforts to improve pedestrian safety and accessibility along the busy Mombasa Road corridor.
The authority has appealed to the public for their understanding and cooperation during the construction period.
