Kenya’s women’s 3×3 basketball team finished in third place at the 2024 FIBA 3×3 African Cup, which was held in Madagascar from November 29 to December 1.
The Kenyan team triumphed 20-11 over Benin in the bronze medal match, earning a spot on the podium for the second consecutive edition of the tournament.
Ashley Minayo was the star of the show, delivering an impressive performance with 10 points and 6 rebounds.
After winning the title the previous time, Minayo’s all-around performance helped the team led by Sylvia Kamau seal the victory and finish with a medal.
This achievement also secured Kenya’s qualification for the 2024 Paris Olympics qualifying tournaments.
In the women’s tournament, Madagascar emerged as the champions, defeating Egypt to clinch the top spot. The final standings saw Kenya in third place, with Benin finishing just behind them in fourth.
Madagascar was in control of the men’s tournament and defeated Rwanda in the final, with Kenya coming in fifth.
