Kenya Cup action resumes this weekend as Quins host Kabras, Nondies face KCB

Kenya Cup action returns this weekend after a brief hiatus for the Enterprise Cup and Mwamba Cup competitions, with exciting fixtures lined up for Week Eight.

Kenya Harlequin will welcome Kabras Sugar to the RFUEA Grounds at 4:00 PM, as the Quins aim to end Kabras’ unbeaten streak. This match is a repeat of last weekend’s Enterprise Cup quarterfinal held at the ASK Kakamega Showground, where Kabras Sugar triumphed over Quins with a score of 43-20.

Meanwhile, at the Ngong Racecourse, a high-stakes battle between Nondescripts and KCB Rugby could determine whether KCB maintains its perfect record. KCB, currently tied at the top of the standings with Kabras and Menengai Oilers, will be looking to keep their unbeaten status intact. In contrast, Nondies, sitting in fourth place, will be eager to shake up the upper ranks.

Nakuru RFC will host Kisumu RFC at Nakuru Athletics Club in what could be their best opportunity to secure their first win of the season. Elsewhere, Mwamba RFC will seek to bounce back against Strathmore Leos in a crucial match for both teams at a venue yet to be confirmed.

At the ASK Showground in Nakuru, Menengai Oilers will face Impala RFC. The Oilers have been enjoying a dominant season and will look to maintain their momentum against an Impala side eager to climb the table. Recent history favors the Oilers, who have won three of their last four encounters against Impala. Their most significant victory came during the 2021/22 season when they won 28-10, Impala’s only success in the last four meetings was a 39-29 win in the 2019/20 season.

Additionally, KU Blak Blad will welcome South Coast Pirates to Kenyatta University Grounds in another key contest.

With just a few weeks remaining before the playoffs, every point matters. The top three teams, Kabras Sugar, KCB Rugby, and Menengai Oilers remain unbeaten, each with 35 points. Meanwhile, teams in the lower half of the table, including Nakuru RFC and Mwamba RFC, are desperate to turn their fortunes around.
