The East African Community (EAC) Inter-Parliamentary Games games now enter Day 4, with Kenya keen to maintain its dominance and continue raising its flag high. It was a walkover for Kenya’s basketball team after the South Sudan counterparts whom they were to face off, failed to turn up for the match.
On Day 3 of the Games Kenya dominated several disciplines, reaffirming its prowess in regional sports and its commitment to deepening regional integration through athletics.
Kenya Triumphs in 4x100m Men’s Relay
Kenya’s men’s 4×100 metres relay team delivered an electrifying performance, clinching the coveted title at the Mbaraki Sports Complex in Mombasa County. The team, led by Hon. Vincent Kawaya, Chairperson of the Bunge Sports Club and MP for Mwala, overcame challenging conditions, including a rain-soaked track, to claim the trophy.
This victory underscored Kenya’s resilience and team spirit, which several team members credited for their success. The win brought joy and pride, celebrated with vibrant song and dance by Kenyan supporters.
Strong Performances Across the Board
Kenya continued its winning streak with standout performances in other events,Men’s Volleyball: Kenya defeated Uganda in the opening match, setting the tone for the day.
The highlight of the day was Kenya’s hard-fought victory over Uganda in the tug-of-war competition. The Kenyan team’s strength, unity, and determination earned them a rousing celebration.
In the Women’s 100m Sprint: Busia County MP Hon. Catherine Omanyo finished second in the 100m sprint, showcasing Kenya’s depth in athletics. She attributed her success to the team’s resilience, skilled trainers, and unwavering spirit.
