Harambee Stars has dropped two places, moving from position 106 to 108 in the latest FIFA rankings released on Thursday, November 28.
Kenya’s neighbour, Tanzania, has climbed six spots in the rankings, going from 112 to 106, surpassing Kenya.
Harambee Stars under the guidance of Engine Firrat failed to qualify for the 2025 AFCON and the drop can be greatly attributed to it.
Kenya finished third in Group J following a 0-0 draw against Namibia and another 1-1 draw against Zimbabwe in the last two matches of the 2025 AFCON qualifiers, as well as another 1-1 stalemate with South Sudan during the first round of the African Nations Championship (CHAN) qualifiers in November.
Uganda lead the East African region at position 88 globally whereas Tanzania who are ranked at 106 sit second while Kenya are now ranked third at position 106.
Uganda and Tanzania have both qualified for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), scheduled to take place in Morocco from December 21, 2025 to January 18, 2026.
Morrocco, who have dropped to position 14 are still ranked best in Africa and are followed by Senegal (17th), Egypt (33rd), Algeria (37th) and Nigeria (44th), who round up the top African teams.
Argentina are still top of the FIFA rankings while France, Spain, England and Brazil are ranked second, third, fourth and fifth respectively.
Portugal and Netherlands have climbed to occupy positions six and seven, while Belgium have slipped to the eighth position.
Italy are still at position nine while Germany have moved up to occupy the 10th position.
