The Kenya Lionesses booked their place in the final of the second leg of the World Rugby Challenger Series after a hard-fought 12-5 victory over Colombia in a gripping semi-final encounter at Athlone Stadium, Cape Town.
This win marked Kenya’s third consecutive triumph in the competition, following their 17-5 and 10-5 victories over Belgium and Uganda, respectively, during the group stage.
Colombia struck first, taking an early 5-0 lead at halftime, as Kenya found it difficult to penetrate their defensive line in the opening half.
However, the Lionesses roared back after the break, with Judith Okumu breaking through to score a crucial try, leveling the match at 5-5.
Shortly after, Sharon Auma also earned her name on the scoresheet after weaving past defenders before crossing the try line. A successful conversion extended Kenya’s lead to 12-5, a margin they defended resolutely until the final whistle.
With the victory, Kenya advances to the final, where they will face hosts South Africa, who edged out Czechia 21-15 in the other semi-final. The highly anticipated final is set to kick off at 20:51 EAT.
