The Kenya Lionesses are set to launch their HSBC Challenger Series 2025 campaign with the first two rounds taking place at Athlone Stadium, South Africa, on March 1st-2nd and 7th-8th.
The national women’s sevens team has been drawn in Pool D, where they will face Poland and Samoa as they aim for a top-four finish to secure a spot in the prestigious HSBC SVNS play-off tournament.
Tournament Format and Path to HSBC SVNS Circuit
- The four pool winners will advance directly to the semi-finals.
- Teams finishing second in their pools will compete for positions five to eight.
- Teams finishing third will contest the ninth-to-twelfth classification.
The top eight teams from the first two rounds will progress to the third round of the Challenger Series, set for April 11th-12th in Krakow, Poland.
At the end of this round, the top four ranked teams will qualify for the HSBC SVNS play-off tournament in Los Angeles on May 3rd-4th, where they will compete for a place in the elite HSBC SVNS circuit.

The Kenya Lionesses will be looking to make a strong start in South Africa, drawing from their experience and skill to secure crucial wins.
While Poland and Samoa are formidable opponents, the Lionesses have consistently shown resilience in past tournaments and will be determined to make a bold statement in their quest for top-tier sevens rugby.
