Kenya Lionesses Squad announced for crucial test match against Madagascar

Kenya Lionesses head coach Dennis Mwanja has named a 23-player squad for the upcoming test match against Madagascar, scheduled for 3:00 PM on 20th September 2024 at the RFUEA Grounds, Ngong Road.

This match plays a pivotal role in determining the Lionesses’ position in the World Rugby Rankings and serves as a preparatory fixture for Madagascar ahead of their participation in the WXV3 Tournament in Dubai later this year.

The team will be captained by Sheila Chajira, with Natasha Emali serving as the vice-captain. In the forward pack, Naomi Jelagat and Chebet Maureen pair up in the lock positions, while Naomi Muhanji, Rose Atieno, and Emali will form the front row. The back row will feature Diana Kemunto and Enid Ouma, with Chajira completing the pack at No. 8.

In the backline, the half-back pairing of Edith Nariaka and Grace Okulu will control the game from positions 9 and 10. Terry Ayesa will take the left wing, with Freshia Awino on the right. The midfield will be held down by Stella Wafula and Maureen Muritu, while Sinaida Mokaya starts at full-back.

Two players, Diana Mideva and Ann Njeri, will be making their debuts for the Lionesses in this crucial match.
