Kenya Met lists regions to experience rainfall this week

The Kenya Meteorological Department (Met) has said rainfall is expected to continue over several parts of the country in the first 4 days of January 28 to February 3, 2025.

Met listed the affected areas as the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley and the South-eastern lowlands.

“Rainfall is expected over the Central Highlands, Western Kenya, Lake Victoria Basin, Rift Valley, and South-Eastern lowlands during the first half of the week,” read part of the Met statement.

However, the Weatherman  stated that most parts of the Coast, North-eastern and Northwestern Kenya are likely to be generally sunny and dry.

Average maximum daytime temperatures of more than 30°C will be experienced in the Coast, North-eastern and North-western Kenya.

Within the same period, average night-time minimum temperatures will be less than 10°C in some parts of the Highlands East of the Rift Valley as well as in the North and Central Rift Valley.

According to the Met, residents of the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin and the Rift Valley should expect morning rains, afternoon and night showers with thunderstorms.

The area covers Nandi, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Busia, Baringo, Nakuru, Trans-Nzoia, Uasin-Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, West-Pokot, Kisii, Nyamira, Kericho, Bomet, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori and Narok Counties.

In North-western Kenya (Turkana and Samburu Counties), the weatherman forecast sunny intervals during the day while nights are likely to be cloudy.

In the Highlands East of the Rift Valley (including Nairobi County), morning rains are expected over a few places.

The region covers Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka-Nithi and Nairobi Counties.

The weatherman said the North-eastern Kenya (Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo Counties), is likely to have sunny intervals during the day while nights are likely to be partly cloudy.
