Kenya Police Bullets are set to face Rwanda’s Rayon Sports Women at the Abele Bikila Stadium in Ethiopia this afternoon in a pivotal Group A match of the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League CECAFA qualifiers.
Both teams are still searching for their first win in the tournament. The Police Bullets opened their campaign with a goalless draw against Yei Joint Stars of South Sudan on Sunday, while Rayon Sports narrowly lost 3-2 to Ethiopia’s CBE.
Today’s match is crucial for both sides, as the winner will be in a strong position to secure a semifinal spot. If Police Bullets claim victory and CBE also wins their match against Yei Joint Stars in the earlier kickoff, CBE will secure a semifinal berth, leaving Police Bullets needing just a draw in Thursday’s game to advance.
Rayon Sports enter the match with momentum, having come close to a remarkable comeback against CBE after trailing 3-0 and finishing the match 3-2. Coach Beldine Odemba of Police Bullets will be keen to see her team capitalize on the opportunities they create, a challenge they faced in their opening game.
