The Kenyan women’s amputee football team, in their last group stage game, beat England 1-0 to become the leader of Group B in the World Amputee Football Federation Women’s World Cup.
Merceline Anjejo’s goal secured the win for Kenya as the ladies finished their group-stage matches unbeaten.
Kenya drew 0-0 with Haiti at the start of their campaign, but they recovered well to defeat Peru 2-0 in their second game.
The competition that kicked off on November 4, 2024 in Romelio Martínez Stadium in Barranquilla, Colombia, is the first-ever Amputee Women’s World Cup.
Sports CS Kipchumba Murkomen congratulated the team for their impressive performance in the competition.
“Congratulations to the Kenya women’s amputee football team on beating England 1 goal to nil today and topping group B in the 2024 Women’s Amputee Football World Cup that’s underway in Colombia.”

Kenya remains the sole African representative in the competition as Nigeria and Cameroon withdrew due to unforeseen circumstances.
