The Kenyan Government is tapping tap on Data Science and Artificial intelligence jobs in Dubai which is set to benefit thousands of graduates in the country.
Already the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora Affairs State Department for Diaspora Affairs attended a virtual meeting for Data science and AI graduates organised by the European Business institute of Luxembourg in partnership with Destino Dubai with a view to forge a link for the graduates to benefit from the opportunities abroad.
A report from the Ministry said Destino Dubai specializes in providing comprehensive career placement and support services for young professionals seeking employment opportunities in Dubai, with a particular focus on the fast-growing fields of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
On the other hand, Dr. James Mulli, a distinguished member of the Kenyan diaspora who currently serves as the President and Academic Dean at EBU who led spearheaded the virtual meeting offers tuition free scholarships to students globally on business and tech related courses which are in line with the current market demand.
During the engagement, Dr. Mulli highlighted a significant opportunity for Kenyan graduates, particularly those with skills and qualifications in Data Science and AI, to access competitive employment openings in Dubai through the support of Destino Dubai.
“The move aligns with SDDA’s mandate to facilitate diaspora engagement and unlock international employment opportunities for Kenyan youth,” said Muli.
Among the recommendations of the meeting with EBU and Destino Dubai, include the SDDA to advance its efforts in securing international employment opportunities for young Kenyan graduates in the fields of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence such as establishing a Formal Partnership, Initiate a formal collaboration framework with Destino Dubai and the European Business Institute (EBU) to create structured channels for identifying, preparing, and placing qualified Kenyan candidates in Dubai’s tech sector.
The state department also shall develop a talent Identification and Preparation Program Work with Kenyan universities and technical institutions to identify top-performing graduates in Data Science, AI, and Cybersecurity.
“Provide support in CV preparation, interview readiness, and soft skills development tailored to international job markets, create a Centralized Applicant Database Set up a digital platform or portal under SDDA to collect and manage applications from interested and eligible graduates, ensuring a ready pool of talent for opportunities as they arise,” said the statement in part.
Further the meeting agreed to promote Skills Development in Emerging Fields, Encourage and support training programs in Python, Machine Learning, Natural Language Processing (NLP), and Computer Vision to align with market demands in Dubai and the wider UAE region.
The virtual engagement between the SDDA, the European Business Institute of Luxembourg (EBU), and Destino Dubai provided valuable insights into emerging employment opportunities for Kenyan professionals, particularly in the fields of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.
It underscored the growing demand for tech talent in Dubai and highlighted the city’s commitment to digital transformation, supported by government policy and private sector investment.
“Destino Dubai’s structured and supportive recruitment process, including deferred fees until placement and comprehensive relocation assistance, offers a credible and accessible pathway for skilled Kenyan graduates to tap into this dynamic market,” said the report in part.
The report said the collaboration will present a promising avenue for SDDA to further its mandate of empowering the Kenyan diaspora and promoting global employment opportunities, especially for the youth in emerging sectors.
The team from Destino Dubai which was headed by Ms. Julia Franch told the meeting that there were plenty of opportunities in Dubai in terms of jobs and networking.
She said Dubai was a dynamic market too and employers were willing to invest in visas and international relationships to get skilful workers from all over the world
“We work with 80 companies including big names such as ‘’Microsoft”, “she said.
She said there was a high demand and rapid growth in data science and Ai opportunities in Dubai and Kenya stands a chance to benefit from those opportunities.
“The demand for AI and data-related roles in the UAE is growing at 15% annually, Key sectors driving this demand are finance, healthcare and ecommerce,” she said.
Franch said Dubai Companies were actively seeking; AI Specialists, data scientists and cyber security experts.
She said the most sought-after skills include Python, Machine Learning, NLP, Computer Vision.
Among the benefits for the job opportunities in Dubai include Tax free salaries, Extra benefits, health insurance, remote work options, professional development support.
Moreover, there is a strong Government backing for AI innovation and digital transformation aimed at creating a thriving ecosystem for tech professionals.
She said the available job opportunities range from junior to senior-level positions, with most roles requiring English proficiency.
“It is also important to note that the Destino Dubai team does not charge any fees for the recruitment process until a candidate has been officially placed with a company. The placement process typically takes between 4 to 6 months,” she said.
Franch said the recruitment process begins with the submission of a CV, which is reviewed to assess suitability for available positions and if there is a match, the candidate is connected with a prospective employer.;
“Destino Dubai then facilitates the interview process through to the final stage. Upon successful placement, they assist with relocation and provide support to help the candidate settle and integrate comfortably into life and work in Dubai,” she said.
