The Kenya U17 team are set to kick off their AFCON U17 CECAFA Zone qualifiers journey on Wednesday 18 December, 2024 against Tanzania.
Kenya’s U17 team were drawn into Group A alongside Tanzania and hosts Uganda following a redraw conducted by CECAFA on Thursday 12 December, 2024 with the redraw being necessitted by the withdrawal of Ethiopia and Burundi teams from the AFCON qualifiers.
Somalia, Sudan and South Sudan were placed in Group B.
The best two teams from each group will qualify for the semi- final stage, while the finalists will automatically qualify for the U-17 AFCON to be held next year.
Defending champions Somalia will kick start their campaign against South Sudan in opening match on Sunday.
The second match on Day 1 will see hosts Uganda battle Tanzania in a Group A match that promises to be a thriller.
After two rest days action will return on December 18th with Tanzania facing Kenya, while South Sudan take on Sudan.
The Salim Babu coached side will then face Uganda in their last group A match on Saturday 21 December, 2024 from 3.00 pm.
The tournament will enter its semis stage on Tuesday 24 December, 2024. The third place final will be played on Friday 27 December, 2024 with the final being later on the same day.
The tournament runs from 15th December to 27th December, 2024 in Kampala, Uganda with all matches being played at the same venue, Nakivubo Hamz Stadium in Kampala.
