Getrude Mutai found the back of the net as Kenya’s Mutei FC wrapped up their debut appearance at the Beka Grannies International Tournament in Limpopo, South Africa, with a spirited 1-0 victory. The match, played on a chilly morning at the Nkowankowa Stadium, saw the Kenyan side close their campaign on a high.
Mutai, a standout performer, registered her second goal of the tournament in the first half, sealing a hard-fought win in front of a lively and supportive crowd in the Tzaneen Municipality.

Kenya’s journey in the tournament began with a narrow 1-0 loss to South Africa’s Thulamahashe. However, the team bounced back with a 1-1 draw against another South African side, Glory Gogos, before securing a confident 2-0 win over Thembisa Gogos.
This was Kenya’s first-ever appearance in the Beka Grannies Tournament, which has grown in popularity and is now in its second edition. The event celebrates senior women in football, promoting health, empowerment, and unity through sport.

In the final showdown, USA’s New England edged out France’s Les Zamies Foot in a thrilling match, winning 5-4 on post-match penalties to claim the championship title.
