Kenyan man accused of killing lover in Uganda

A Kenyan man is facing charges of murdering his lover in Tororo, Uganda.

Police officers have launched a manhunt for the Kenyan suspect, since he escaped on Friday of February 9, 2024 after committing the crime.

Locals say the man fled to Kenya a day after committing the heinous act in Margen Trading Centre, Kalait Sub County in Tororo District.

Ugandan Police found the body of the 48-year old woman at the back of a house in a pool of blood.

In addition, the police noted that the body of the victim had noticeable head injuries inflicted by a blunt object.

The body of the woman was taken to Tororo General Hospital for postmortem.

It is alleged that the suspect had an altercation with his lover earlier in the day and had threatened to kill her.

The victim who was identified as Beatrice Amoit, had reported the death threats to the local administration who promised to follow up on her report.

Unfortunately, her body was found the following day morning before the authorities responded to her grievances.

Ugandan police spokesperson for the Bukedi South region, Johnson Moses Mugwe, stated that the suspect was hiding in Kenya. 

“We are investigating a murder case. The suspect is believed to have fled to Kenya after committing the offence,” remarked Mugwe.

He added that the officers have launched a manhunt in collaboration with Kenya police to ensure the suspect is arrested.

The police officer urged the family of the victim to remain calm as the authorities promise to ensure justice prevails.
