Kenya’s Harambee Stars have moved up six places in the latest FIFA rankings, rising from 108th to 102nd globally. The team’s improved performance in the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers has contributed significantly to this rise.
The Harambee Stars now have 1208.96 points, a notable improvement from the 1197.73 points they held in the previous ranking.
Earlier this month, the Stars secured a crucial point in a goalless draw against The Warriors of Zimbabwe during a Group J AFCON qualifier played in Uganda on 6th September. Just days later, on 10th September, the team earned a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Namibia in South Africa. The victory against Namibia ranked 98th before the match, played a pivotal role in Kenya’s ranking boost.
Globally, the top 10 teams remain unchanged, with Argentina holding the top spot, followed by France and Spain in second and third, respectively. England, Brazil, Belgium, Netherlands, Portugal, Colombia, and Italy round out the top 10. No African team made it into the global top 10.
In Africa, Morocco continues to lead, maintaining their 14th position globally while gaining 6.7 points. They are followed by Senegal in 21st, who dropped two places, and Egypt, who climbed five places to 31st.
The rest of the top 10 African teams are:
- Ivory Coast – 33rd
- Tunisia – 36th
- Nigeria – 39th
- Algeria – 41st
- Cameroon – 53rd
- Mali – 54th
- Congo DR – 58th (the only East African team in Africa’s top 10)
Uganda and Tanzania, Kenya’s regional neighbours, also saw improvements, moving up five places each to sit at 90th and 110th, respectively.
Kenya has a chance to break into the top 100 in the next FIFA rankings if they secure a positive result against Cameroon in their next AFCON qualifier.
