Kenya’s hunt for a medal continues as Githimba flops in the Walking race

Kenya’s representative in the men’s walking race, Samuel Githimba, missed out on a podium finish at the Paris Olympics, completing the race in 22nd position with a personal best time of 1:22:26.

The race was won by Ecuador’s Brian Pintado, who claimed the gold medal with a time of 1:18:55. This victory marked Ecuador’s first Olympic gold in athletics since 1996.

Githimba

Brazilian Caio Bonfim secured the silver medal with a time of 1:19:09, while world champion Alvaro Martin from Spain earned the bronze, finishing in 1:19:11.

Samuel Githimba is the immediate former African Games champion, having clocked 1:22:48 to win the title in Rabat, Morocco, during the last Games.
