Kericho: 150 students from hardship areas receive scholarships worth Ksh2.5M

In a significant boost for education in Kericho County, 150 students from vulnerable families, particularly in hardship areas of Soin Sigowet, have received scholarships worth Ksh 2.5 million.

The program, spearheaded by Kipchimchim Group of Companies, aims to support students from disadvantaged backgrounds in their educational journey.

Speaking during the official rollout of the program at West Sugar Valley, Bernard Soi, Managing Director of West Valley Sugar Factory, emphasized the importance of addressing financial barriers that hinder students from accessing quality education.

He noted that many families in the region struggle to pay school fees, forcing numerous students to stay out of school.

Soi also called on parents to take an active role in guiding and supporting their children. He urged them to work harder to provide basic necessities that the scholarship program might not cover, ensuring the students can focus fully on their studies.

The scholarship program is set to impact students across different schools in the region, providing them with an opportunity to continue their education uninterrupted.
