A 30-year-old man in Ndiwa market, Kericho County, killed his wife by strangling her with a rope, after suspecting her of having a love affair with a neighbor.
The man also poisoned their 18-month-old daughter, but she was rescued by police and taken to Londiani Sub-County Hospital for treatment.
Londiani OCPD Agnes Kunga confirmed the incident.
According to the police report, the man, who had also ingested poison, tried to escape but later contacted the police.
Officers found him critically ill and vomiting at his hiding spot.
He was then taken to the hospital under tight security as a murder suspect.
Police findings about the couple
According to Kunga, the couple lived in a rental house at the market, and the man had been suspicious of his wife’s visits to the neighbor.
Upon learning from another neighbor that his wife was at the neighbor’s house, he returned home and, after finding her there, he took her back to their house.
How the man killed his wife
There, he strangled her and poisoned their child before fleeing.
The man is currently receiving treatment under police guard, and authorities hope he survives to face charges for the murder.
