Police in Kericho have launched an investigation into the brutal killing of a middle-aged man whose body was discovered in a culvert in Kachelipa, Kipkelion West Constituency.
Another individual, who was also attacked during the incident is currently receiving treatment for serious injuries at Kericho County Referral Hospital.
According to preliminary police reports, the deceased was ambushed on Wednesday night as he headed home from work.
The attackers allegedly used a blunt object to inflict fatal injuries on his neck before moving his body to a nearby house.
Kericho County Police Commander James Ngetich has urged local residents to provide any information that could lead to the arrest of the suspects, who are believed to have fled the area.
“We understand that the suspected criminals are from this village,” Ngetich said, criticizing their families for releasing them despite past involvement in criminal activities.
Area Members of the County Assembly (MCAs) Hezron Ngetich and Philip Rono have condemned the incident, calling on authorities to speed up investigations and ensure justice is served before the deceased is buried.
Meanwhile, police have assured residents that efforts are underway to apprehend the suspects and curb rising cases of insecurity in the area.
