Key reforms proposed to strengthen Kenyan Football Governance

The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has officially received the final report from the FKF Transition Ad Hoc Committee, marking the successful conclusion of the committee’s mandate.

Chaired by FKF Vice President McDonald Mariga, the seven-member committee was established by the National Executive Council (NEC) on December 21, 2024, to ensure a smooth transition for the federation.

Over the past several weeks, the committee conducted an in-depth review of key areas, including:
Governance structures
Financial management
Human resources
Legal framework

The committee’s findings identify critical areas for reform aimed at enhancing the efficiency, integrity, and sustainability of Kenyan football administration.

Key Objectives of the FKF Transition Committee

The committee was tasked with advancing proposals that would:

  • Ensure operational continuity within FKF
  • Establish robust governance structures for long-term stability

  • Prepare incoming leadership for sustainable growth
  • Build capacity to improve football administration
  • Commission a forensic audit to enhance transparency and financial accountability

Final Report Submitted to FKF Leadership

On January 31, 2025, the final report was officially presented to FKF President Hussein Mohammed. The document serves as a strategic roadmap for strengthening the federation’s leadership and implementing key reforms.

The next step will be for the National Executive Council (NEC) to validate the recommendations before moving towards full implementation.
