Kiambu: Man strangles his 1-year-old child to death after argument with wife

Police have arrested a 23-year-old man for allegedly killing his son in Kiambu County.

Evans Kimande reportedly strangled his one-year-old child to death at their home in Kangoya village after a disagreement with his 35-year-old wife.

Confirming the incident, Kiambu Police Commander Mohamed Badel said the issue was reported by the Nyumba Kumi village elder in the area.

The man reportedly waited for his wife to leave the house for work before he committed the act.

A similar incident also occurred in Meru where a 24-year-old man allegedly hacked and killed his elder brother in a dispute over a piece of land in Maua.

Benson Kareithi, 28, passed away in the hospital after sustaining deep cuts on his hand during the fight.

According to the police, the incident happened on Saturday May 25, 2024 in the evening.

The younger brother went to Kareithi’s house and tricked him by saying there was a snake at the door.

When Kareithi opened the door, the assailant hacked him several times and then escaped. The family took the victim to the local police post, where they were advised to rush him to the hospital.

Police visited the home and found that the assailant had been tracked down and cornered by a furious mob in one of the houses.

The police officers acted quickly and managed to rescue him from the angry mob.

He is being held at the police station in Meru as the officers prepare to arraign him in court over murder.
