Kilifi: Intimate encounter goes tragically wrong as man dies after choking on saliva

Tragedy struck a village in Kilifi North Sub-County on Wednesday, May 22 after the untimely death of a 30-year-old man who had visited his girlfriend.

In a report filed at Kilifi Police Station, Cecilia Chepkirui recounted what she says were the last moments leading to the sudden death of her boyfriend Bernard Omayo.

On the fateful day, the 25-year-old lady says Omayo had visited her rented house in Mabirikani area – four kilometres East of the police station.

While the two were reportedly engaging in their intimate activities, Omayo is said to have suddenly choked on saliva and collapsed.

“…while engaging in sex foreplay, he got choked with saliva and collapsed, she then rushed for assistance from her immediate neighbours and rushed him to Kilifi County Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival,” Chepkirui says in the police report filed at around 3 pm on the same day.

Police officers visited the scene and documented the details of the incident.

The body was removed to Kilifi County Hospital morgue pending autopsy.

The case is under investigation by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Kilifi North, as they work to unravel the circumstances surrounding the sudden death.
