KICC will be Privatized

In his analysis, these forms of privatization outlined in the Privatization Act did not involve the direct sale of the parastatal.

Ichung`wah went on to highlight the immense cost that went into KICC in preparation for the climate change summit.

The leader of the majority was keen to highlight that the cost of refurbishing KICC trickled down to the billions for taxpayers.

Kimani went on to highlight that he was keen to also highlight to President Ruto that the cost of maintaining the repairs at KICC would be high.

Parliament pays KICC peanuts

The major problem with KICC was that it was not generating any income and the only major tenants were parliamentarians.

Moreover, he stated that Parliamentarians pay peanuts to hold meetings at the KICC and that could not sustain the infrastructure in place.

Ichung`wah went on to highlight how Rwanda had taken Kenya’s position in having a hub for holding global meetings.

He walked back on the privatization of the sugar industry saying that they gave landowners the option to lease out their land to investors with capital.

He dispelled the notion that privatizing a parastatal outright meant the sale of the entity.

“I just want to disabuse the notion that, when you talk privatization, you are talking about an outright sale,” Ichung`wah said.
