Kimani Mbugua appeals for help after losing KSh37k phone

Former TV journalist Kimani Mbugua is once pleading for help months after getting back on his feet.

Taking to social media on Saturday, March 23, Mbugua divulged that he was mugged while shooting content on TikTok platform.

“Guys I was mugged this morning while I was live on TikTok by a guy with a panga,” he began.

Apparently, the incident occurred as he was taking a walk in Jomoko area, Thika sub-county.

“I hurt my leg and hand but am doing okay. I reported the case to Kiandutu Police Station OB No 05/23/03/2024,” Mbugua explained.

He claimed to have lost his Samsung A34 which retails at approximately KSh37,000. Mbugua managed to purchase the phone using funds raised by Kenyans online in October last year following his public outcry.

“I lost my Samsung A34 which you guys bought me, I was producing content with it… Anyway, Kenya Police please help me recover it,” he added.

Kimani Mbugua had attended a mental health retreat on Friday, March 22 at Maranatha Restoration Home in Thika and shared some advice.

“Mental health breaks are important. If you crash, which you will, if you have mental health conditions like bipolar and chronic depression don’t be ashamed to take a break and seek mental health care.”

Mbugua launched his new show dubbed “Unbroken” on October 14, 2023 after purchasing shooting equipment. He thanked Kenyans for contributing funds to help him get back on his feet after a long time in rehab due to drug addiction.

“I am just overjoyed and I just wanted to say thank you. Each and every one of you who gave any amount of money thank you so so much for helping me get back on my feet.

“Today I got equipment, I got a new shooting device and I got a microphone which means I am going back to the streets where I belong,” he said in a video.

Popular TikToker at the time mobilized her fans to raise Ksh420,000 for the former TV journalist.
