His statement was published on the monarch’s website and the royal family’s official page on X.

“Equally heartening to hear how sharing my own diagnosis has helped promote public understanding and shine a light on the work of all those organisations which support cancer patients and their families across the UK and wider world,” the King added.

King Charles is undergoing treatment at Sandringham, although details about the type of cancer are yet to be made public.

His cancer was detected as he was being treated for an enlarged prostate in January 2024, however the palace has confirmed that he was not suffering from prostate cancer.

“My lifelong admiration for their tireless care and dedication is all the greater as a result of my own personal experience,” he wrote.

After the cancer diagnosis, the King stepped back from all public activities as he delegated most of his duties to Queen Camilla and other members of the royal family.

According to Britain’s National Health Service, the king’s diagnosis had sparked a surge in online searches for advice about cancer.

King Charles is currently staying at the royal country residence of Sandringham, in the east of England.

Charles’s diagnosis on cancer comes about 17 months into his reign following the death of his 96-year-old mother, Queen Elizabeth II, on September 8, 2022.
