Kenyan Rapper King Kaka and his lover Nini Nana Owiti have announced their separation after 13 years of marriage.
In a joint statement on Tuesday December 17, 2024, the two said they made the decision following much reflection and consideration.
“We honestly never thought we would one day write a statement like this but life happens. After much reflection and consideration, we have made the difficult decision to end our relationship.
“Over the course of 13 years, we have shared countless memories, built a life together, and most importantly raised three incredible children who will always be our top priority,” they noted.
At the same time, King Kaka and Nana noted that they remain deeply committed to maintaining a respectful and supportive relationship as they move forward separately.
“As public figures, we recognize that our personal lives may attract attention but we kindly ask for privacy and understanding during this time as we navigate this transition as a family,” read part of their statement.
Moving forward, King Kaka and Nana emphasized that they will focus on raising their children whose happiness and well-being is their priority.
“Our focus remains on co-parenting our children with love, stability, and respect. They are the heart of everything we do and their happiness and well-being will always come first.
“We are grateful for the love and support we have received throughout our journey together and we ask for your continued kindness as we take this next step.
“This is a joint decision made with mutual respect and we look forward to embracing the future as individuals while continuing to co-parent with the same partnership and dedication we’ve always had. Thank you for respecting our privacy,” they noted in a statement.
Their breakup comes six months after King Kaka in May 2024 dismissed rumors about a possible separation from his wife, Nana Owiti.
The breakup rumours intensified when Nana Owiti, was spotted enjoying the soccer scene in the UK, frequently sharing her London adventures on social media.
Observers quickly speculated that she had left her marital home, with some even alleging she falsified immigration documents and took their children with her.
“I don’t clout chase, especially when it comes to family. Neither does Nana. I wasn’t even planning to address this, but since it’s about family, I must. I know people get excited with content creation and spreading falsehoods,” King Kaka stated.
“Nana is in the country, and the kids are attending school as usual. I’m baffled by where these stories are coming from. Let’s be mindful of the many people affected by fake stories. Let’s create content but not destroy something good,” he added.
