Kirinyaga: Police rescue 14 month old baby after being stolen by relative

Police have recovered a 14-month-old child who was reported missing last week in the Kingombe area, Kirinyaga County after allegedly being taken by a family member.

A team of investigators and local police later apprehended the primary suspect connected to the incident.

“The suspect was tracked down in the Kimbi area and was subsequently brought to Kutus Police Station,” police reported.

“The family members met and decided to forgive the suspect and move forward,” they added.

The child disappeared after the mother, Mary Njoki, left the baby with her nephew while she went to get a shave in Kiangothe Town.

The family reported the child’s disappearance to Kutus Police Station after they were unable to find her.

“The child was safely rescued at the suspect’s hideout, unharmed, and has been reunited with her parents,” said the investigator.
