An impeachment motion against Kisii Deputy Governor Robert Monda has been filed.
The motion, sponsored by Ichuni MCA Wycliffe Siocha, has been signed by 51 out of 71 MCAs in the county assembly.
Siocha wants the deputy governor removed from his position on grounds of abuse of office, negligence of his duties, among other allegations.
In late November 2023, Monda confirmed his fallout with his boss, Governor Simba Arati after months of speculations.
According to Monda, Governor Arati’s lack of clear development agenda for Kisii people put them on a collision path.
“My sin was that I interrogated if there is any clear agenda for our people away from rhetoric which we had been feeding them since we came into office,” Monda told the Star back then.
He added: “We had promised our people heaven yet we have not yet started a project to show for that up to now. I don’t want my soul to sink with him.”
The MCAs, led by Nyanyeki Ward’s Naftal Onkoba, have urged Governor Arati to steer clear of the impeachment process.
