Kituo Cha Sheria sues EPRA for retaining fuel prices above KSh200

National NewsNews

A case has been filed seeking to stop the government — through the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) — from increasing prices of fuel in the country.

Kituo Cha Sheria cannot fathom why EPRA has retained fuel prices above KSh200 despite global prices dropping.

“The fuel prices in Kenya have recently reached historical highs, causing concern and economic strain for both citizens and businesses with recent announcement seeing petrol prices surpassing 200 shillings per litre for the first time,” the petition reads in part.

Kituo Cha Sheria is now accusing the government of consumers’ voices, causing Kenyans to face extreme economic hardships.

Kituo Cha Sheria wants the court to issue conservatory orders stopping EPRA from increasing fuel prices.

EPRA, Energy and Petroleum Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir, and the Attorney General have been named as respondents in the case.
