The Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Council has issued a legal statement addressed to Dr Mbiti Mwondi who sparked controversial conversations online as netizens questioned his ethics as a doctor.
It is alleged that Dr Mbiti breached patient confidentiality by posting on the social media platform ‘X’ photos of newly born twins that he extracted without written consent.
In the post, he shared about the decisions he made during a C-section operation he performed on newborn twins and why he saw it fit to deliver the male child first.
In a tweet that left many utterly astounded, Mwondi confessed that his choice to give the baby boy the first birth preference was based on his desire to root for the ‘boy child’.
Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentist Council (KMPDC) spoke on the matter today on ‘X’ by stating that they strongly condemn such violations.
They revealed that they will thoroughly investigate any other similar incidents and disciplinary actions will be taken as needed.
“As the medical regulator overseeing the conduct and practice of medical and dental practitioners, KMPDC is perturbed by recent reports of actions that go against medical ethics,” KMPDC wrote on X.
