The 56-day national doctors’ strike has finally come to an end after the Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union (KMPDU) signed a return-to-work formula.
The strike was called off after KMPDU officials signed the deal with the Ministry of Health at around 5 pm on Wednesday, May 8.
This comes after the Employment and Labour Relations Court had ordered both the doctors’ union and the government to come up with a return-to-work formula by Wednesday.
The Ministry of Health and KMPDU officials have been engaging on crafting the formula, with the latest meeting taking place last evening, as reported by Cabinet Secretary Susan Nakhumicha.
