A student at the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) in Kitale was stabbed to death by his girlfriend, during a fight in their house.
Police reported that the lady escaped immediately after the murder incident on Sunday December 1, 2024 in the Huruma area.
The deceased who was identified as Benedict Kiptoo, 24, was a clinical medicine student at the KMTC.
According to the neighbors, Kiptoo was stabbed in the chest during a fight with his lover.
His neighbours told police that they heard commotion from the house where he stayed with the suspected assailant and on checking they found him lying in a pool of blood.
In addition, police noted that a neighbour who is also a doctor at a private clinic in the area attended to Kiptoo by administering First Aid in vain.
“The man was bleeding profusely which forced neighbors to rush him to a nearby hospital. Unfortunately, Kiptoo died while being taken to the medical facility,” police reported.
The body was taken to Cherengany Hospital Mortuary pending autopsy as investigations and search for the suspect continues.
Meanwhile, Police visited the crime scene and recovered a kitchen knife that was used in the attack.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the two lived together as lovers. However, they had argued after Kiptoo allegedly came home late leading to the fight.
Police have ordered the suspect to surrender for grilling and arraignment in court.
