KPLC reports interference in 3 Major Supply Lines in Nairobi, Kiambu

On Sunday, January 7, Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) declared that Kiambu and Nairobi Counties’ primary electricity lines had been lost.

KPLC said in a statement that technicians were attempting to restore electricity to Fedha Estate, Tel Aviv, Tassia, and the surrounding areas, and that the supply line was out.

The Sunday morning outage also damaged a power line that serves Kiambu County.

“Supply line serving Kwihota, Kihunguro, Murera, Ruiru, Gatongora, Kilimambogo, Kamakis, Mitikeda Ruiru, Karuguru near Eden academy and environs is off. We are on it,” the power transmission company stated. 

The regions of Kinoo and Uthiru also reported the existence of a third supply line.

The third supply line affects the following areas: Uthiru, Kinoo, Kanyariri, Kabete Vetlab, and Ndumbuini.

Kwa Mugo Njathaini, Uthiru 87, Gakobu and its surroundings are among the other estates.

This was on top of the planned seven-hour blackout in Thika Town.

On Saturday, January 6, Kenya Power declared that majority of Thika Town would be without power from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm as a result of planned maintenance.

This covers parts of Bishop Okoye, Kimathi, Pilot, Starehe, Biafra, Thika High School, Munene Industries, and Thika Cloth Mills.
