Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has cautioned it’s customers against the use of quark electricians to do their house wiring so as to avoid accidents that lead to death by electrocution.
KPLC Mt Kenya Regional Manager, Mutugi Mbae, says that they are facing the challenge of shambolic house wirings that have caused accidents and even deaths.
He says that all electricians are registered with EPRA and thus customers should verify the details before allowing anyone to conduct house wiring.
Speaking in Kirinyaga, Mutugi has also called upon farmers in the region which is forested to notify the utility company before embarking on pruning of trees so as to avoid deaths.
He said that pruning trees around live wires have led to deaths by electrocution which can be avoided if the farmers allow the company to switch off the power for them to conduct their pruning activities.
