KQ to passengers: “Arrive at JKIA 4 hours earlier, expect delays”

Kenya Airways (KQ) has advised its customers travelling through the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Tuesday, July 23 to arrive at the airport earlier due to planned traffic disruptions on major roads.

The national carrier advised passengers to arrive at the airport at least four hours before their scheduled flight departure time.

“Due to anticipated traffic disruptions on major roads leading to JKIA on Tuesday 23rd July 2024, customers are advised to arrive at the airport at least four (4) hours before their scheduled flight departure time,” KQ says in a statement. “Customers are also encouraged to plan extra time to avoid potential delays enroute to the airport.”

While apologising any convenience caused by this communication, KQ insisted that the safety and well-being of its crew and customers is their number one priority.

Traveling customers, the airline says, can physically check in at the airport as early as 4 hours before flight departure. They can also check online via www.kenya-airways.com or on their mobile devices via the KQ Mobile app from 30 hours to 90 minutes before flight departure.

Kenya Airways further says that they are doing everything possible to ensure flights depart and arrive on schedule, but customers should expect some delays in their departure and arrival times.

This advisory comes ahead of planned anti-government protests on Tuesday, July 23. Youthful protesters are planning to march to JKIA in the course of agitating for changes in government.
