Revenue collected on the eCitizen platform has grown by a whopping 300% since President William Ruto’s directive on gov’t services.
On June 30, 2023, President William Ruto directed that all government services be made available on the eCitizen online platform.
Immigration Services PS Julius Bitok says that revenue collected on the platform grew from KSh1,397,301,980 in June 2023 to KSh4,168,704,016 in September 2023.
Billions collected from eCitizen
In a statement to newsrooms, PS Bitok says the revenue collected from the platform in July and August 2023 was KSh2,320,210,423 and KSh3,590,051,462 respectively.
“By close of business on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, 10,513 government services were available for end-to-end application on eCitizen (i.e. fully onboarded). A further 4,184 services are partially onboarded and are in the process of being fully onboarded,” PS Bitok says.
eCitizen onboarding process continues
PS Bitok adds that the process of migrating government services to eCitizen will continue until all the remaining services are fully onboarded by December 31, 2023.
The Kenya Kwanza administration hopes that onboarding all gov’t services on eCitizen platform will promote convenience in accessing those services.
Also, the directive is likely to increase uptake of the services and enhance revenue collection by sealing loopholes and leakages associated with the manual system.
