Race against time: KUCCPS lists 26 KMTC courses with limited slots ahead of April deadline

The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has released a fresh alert for students interested in joining the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC), revealing that 26 programmes still have limited vacancies.

In a social media update that sparked widespread attention among medical course aspirants, KUCCPS listed both diploma and certificate courses that remain open for placement — a rare second chance for candidates who missed the initial intake.

“Good news to applicants looking for KMTC courses,” KUCCPS announced. “Following the recent placement of students to KMTC, 26 programmes still have limited vacancies.”

The courses are split into 7 certificate and 19 diploma options. Among the certificate programmes are Community Health Assistant, Health Records and Information Technology, Medical Emergency Technician, Medical Engineering and Nutrition and Dietetics.

For diploma-level applicants, available programmes include Pharmacy, Radiography and Imaging, Physiotherapy, Public Health, Medical Laboratory Sciences, Medical Social Work, Mortuary Science, Occupational Therapy, Speech and Language Therapy, Orthopaedic and Trauma Medicine and Orthopaedic Technology.

“These are competitive programmes and applicants are urged to check their eligibility and apply early,” KUCCPS advised. Students are encouraged to log into the KUCCPS portal (students.kuccps.net) to view specific entry requirements and the KMTC campuses offering each programme.

The deadline for applications is April 30, 2025.

With medical careers among the most sought-after in the country, this limited window offers hope to students keen on pursuing health-related professions. As one hopeful applicant, Esther Wanjiru, put it, “This opportunity could be the break I’ve been praying for. I missed out during the first intake and now I have a second shot.”

Education experts have lauded the move, noting that making such information public helps bridge the gap between demand and opportunity in the health training sector.

Interested candidates have barely two weeks to beat the deadline and secure their future in Kenya’s growing healthcare landscape.
