Kwale County was selected to host this year’s Mashujaa Day celebrations with the theme of ‘Affordable Housing’.
As a key pillar of the Kenya Kwanza Government’s Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA), affordable housing is focused on increasing homeownership and reducing the housing deficit across Kenya.
Kwale is making significant progress with major infrastructure projects, including the near-completion of Kwale Stadium which stands as a powerful example of how Government policies are creating real, tangible benefits for everyday Kenyans – from job creation to stimulating the industrial sector through building and construction.
The stadium, in particular, has been given the greenlight to host the 61st Mashujaa Day celebrations.
The government says that the 10,000-seater stadium, situated in Kwale town, is constructed to high standards and can host national and international games and other events thus promoting the growth of sports in Kwale County and the region at large.
The stadium will feature a football pitch, running track, basketball court, and facilities for other ball games.
Another project undertaken by the National Government in Kwale County is the construction and improvement of Diani Market, with a capacity for 4,000 traders.
The facility now has dignified washrooms, water/electricity supply, and enhanced security, is designed to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
This initiative is unlocking the region’s agricultural potential by establishing as a key market for fresh produce.
