Ladies and gentlemen, please don’t say there are no jobs in Kenya

Ladies and gentlemen, please don’t say there are no jobs in Kenya

In what can be termed as pleasing the people, President William Ruto has given in to the pressure that had piled over the past few weeks.

He has dissolved the cabinet after pressure from wananchi.

“I have decided to dismiss with immediate effect all the cabinet secretaries and the Attorney General of the cabinet of Kenya, except the prime cabinet secretary and cabinet secretary for diaspora affairs. The office of the deputy president is not affected in any way,” those are the exact words of President William Ruto.

Take it back to a few days ago when the hashtags seeking accountability from the docket holders hit and took the internet by storm.

The Ministry of Health, Interior, Sports, Roads and Transport are just among the Ministries whose cabinet secretaries were under fire for under-performance, or is it not delivering completely?

The heat from netizens has completely surpassed that of the opposition and we might start to believe that the youth are on the right path to bringing about the change that the country has always wanted.

People have started expressing their joy at the attempt by the president to rectify matters by getting rid of the cabinet but they are still skeptical about the sudden move, considering they expected it in the speech prior to this, but it did not happen.

And while that is a good start, it is not enough. Young Kenyans are adamant to have every single corrupt, lazy or unaccountable officer out of government.

X spaces, TikTok lives, FaceBook lives and the rest are all about accountability and service delivery.

And as the Gen Zs discuss this, they say it is not ‘Anti-Government protests’ but rather ‘Pro-Good Governance protests.’

Are the demonstrations still on? Let us wait and see on Tuesday next week.

Therefore, for Kenyans who were saying there are no jobs in Kenya, there are vacant positions after President Ruto sacked all the cabinet secretaries.
