Directly and candidly, Madowo accused Kenya Airways of being overly expensive.
He urged the management of the Pride of Africa to reconsider their ticket pricing.
The journalist shared that he had been charged a staggering US$1268, approximately KSh 196,000, for a round-trip ticket from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) in Nairobi to Entebbe International Airport in Uganda.
This is a colloquial term for the economy-class section where passengers typically experience limited space.
The seasoned journalist conveyed his disbelief through a Facebook post, stating,
“Hard to believe, but Kenya Airways charged me $1,268 for a Nairobi-Entebbe return ticket in cattle class.”
Moreover,Madowo’s protest resonated across social media, triggering a cascade of reactions from fellow Kenyans who found the airfare perplexing.

He questioned the fairness of a one-hour flight commanding such a high price.
“There’s no reason why a 1-hour flight should cost KSh 200,000, even if it were last minute like mine! Je, huu ni Uungwana? (Is this really fair)?”
The journalist’s straightforward and assertive approach ignited a public discourse on Kenya Airways’ ticket pricing, prompting a reevaluation of the airline’s fare structure.
